Lucent and Ascend will cut into their margins, big time, and bring down the pe ratio.
Cisco is the major reason for reading Moore's book, Michael. He points out just how strong their franchise is, and why the margins will stay up for a long time. The "Motley Fool" crowd calls them a "rulemaker". Of course everybody goes to the norm, given a long enough time scale. The advantage of the "Gorilla" over the "King" is the the Gorilla has a longer time in the Sun.
