Of course I do not want to see that stock buybacks are used to fatten executive pockets. Have you seen any evidence of that in Dell? Go back as many years as you want.
I have discussed rather extensively about what the objective of a corporation these days. Some people are in the camp of "maximize profits". I am in the opinion that "maximizing shareholders value" should the primary goal, and I will invest in companies that do that. Share buybacks, if done honestly is one vehicle to achieve that.
