Have you studied any of the papers that have been published by those not connected with the DeBakey/NASA heart? Some of the abstracts contained in my post above clearly pointed to long term problems with other organs. Obviously, the human trials will be critical to resolving this issue. Animal trials can only take you so far.

I had questioned World Heart on this subject back in 1996 when I was doing my DD, because the DeBakey/NASA device seemed like the biggest competitor to World Heart in the long run. Their response was 1) their considered opionion is that non-pulsatile is not viable. 2) the HeartSaver VAD could be adapted to a non-pulsatile device, should it ever prove to be a viable approach.
