The catch is your buying power will be reduced by the $30 x # share

Thean, I'am unclear as to how this works with put sales. If you sell 10 RIG 30's, does that mean that $30,000 cash is unavailable until the put is either covered or expired? Buying power, is that total of cash and available margin combined?
I never seem to be able to get this stuff straight.<g>
