Seeing this as simply economic liberalism is too narrow. As a liberal, myself, the respect I have for Clinton comes from his civil-liberty battles. That he broke the momentum of the Conservative Revolution, including fiscal, is a plus. But the battle for liberals is also against Law&Order, the One Religion movement, the Power of money, priveledge, corporations vs. individuals.... This issue is surely his forte, and to allow him to lose here, more than discounts this area of liberalism.
