Jaz drives don't suffer from COD very often. That's why I didn't see much reason to run TIP on them.

Don't forget that Steve Gibson is trying to sell you something, even if he does give TIP away for free. He wants you to buy his SpinRite software. Now, there's nothing wrong with that. I used to use an early version of SpinRite and it was a great program. I'm sure the newest version is a fine utility. Basically, it allows you to "refresh" the low-level formatting of a hard disk without disturbing the data on it.
