LINUX Opportunity...

Ron,

I agree in principal with the potential in exploiting LINUX.

Unfortunately my prognosis of the potential of I/Net's current products on Linux is not great given the following realities:

1. LINUX being a unix variant, would be a snap to "port to" for Netscape itself. They already have unix products. I'd be surprised if they do not already have product (Netscape that is) in the pipeline or available already for LINUX. Netscape would not extend a license to a competitive offering for such a platform. The grant for I/Net on native AS/400 is a rare, purely niche, opportunity.

2. LINUX has a very popular webserver available to customers called Apache, at a great price! $0.0 dollars. So not much opportunity here.

I will however add this: IBM and I/Net have a dynamic and growing relationship, that could involve services and or joint development efforts beyond the AS/400 platform, which may lead to new offerings on platforms like Linux or OS/390 for example. (From a reliable source(pls don't ask)).
