Greg,
You bring up some very good points, but my argument is that the economy was already well on it's way to recovery internally even before Mr. Clinton was elected, and in my opinion, as long as Mr. Greenspan was kept at the helm of the Fed, the Dow would still be roughly where it is today, even if George Bush and or Mr. Dole had won the White House.
As for paying down the debt, I'm all for that, as long as they stop raiding the SS trust fund, and fully account for and display the real cost of that social program to the American people.
Since the total tax burden is generally speaking, the highest it's ever been due to all of the social programs, pork, and large size of the government, some more tax breaks are needed, but not at the cost of ruining total debt reduction. Yogi
