A techie question for you all.

Actually, a couple of questions.

1) For data users, how robust is the service -- i.e. can you be zipping down I95, handing off every couple of minutes and still maintain the call?

2) Does anybody know if the 19.2 kbps data service use the standard 2 timeslots, or is it more? [i.e. DC uses one of 6, voice uses 2 of 6, how many does data use for the 19.2 datarate?]

Thanks

BTW, theoretically, iDen is more spectrally efficient than GSM-1900 [or gsm900/1800 for that matter]

GSM channel width is 200khz, and can support 8 calls [7 on the control channel]

iden channel with is 25 khz and can support 3 calls [2 on control channel(?)]

So, with 1mhz of spectrum, GSM can support around 35 - 40 calls, iDen can support 80 to 120 calls.

Additionally, I understand that the modulation scheme of iDen is such that adjacent channels can be assigned in the same cell, where in GSM it is much more difficult to do.
