Greg,

Re: Buying market share short term

You are ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

All new start ups lose money for a few years until they reach a break even point etc.

Look at all the InterNUTS all buying market share.

However AMD keeps making promises and not delivering.

Frankly they would be better off if they were more up front with wall street and its investors.

They need to clearly articulate their plans.
They need to underpromise financial results and over deliver.

Clearly it is INEXCUSABLE in my view that 3 days before the K-3 is due to be announced we still don't know for sure. If the chip is NOT ready, I would much rather that they give a true status and keep wall street and it's customers well informed and give the bad news earlier than later. If they are ready then they should have been hyping and building up the release much more than they have.

This way they have much more cedibility with everybody.

Frankly wall street could not give a damn about short term profitability. It is wether AMD has a credible product line and business plan against a very tough competitor.

I am still convinced they can and will do very well. They need to execute on the IR, PR marketing sides as well as the product and production side.

Regards,

Kash.
