I agree that there's a lot of religious fanaticism on the AMD, Intel, and Cyrix threads.

When AMD releases the K6, they'll have a CPU for portables that's much better than anything available from Intel and Cyrix. Intel has the best multiprocessing chips (Pentium Pro). When Cyrix releases their integrated processor, it'll be the lowest cost system and still have good desktop performance. So, the niches have already been staked out.

There was a time last summer when I owned all 3 companies, mostly as a hedge against each other. There is minority (Paul Engel, etc.) that own all 3 today. They've all run up a bit too much for my conservative taste, but I can foresee a time at the bottom of the next periodic tech meltdown when I again own all 3 stocks.
