I agree. In a recent Forbes article featuring Balmer (the No. 2 guy at Microsoft) He mentioned that Bill G. asked for more money in the early days of MS when they had a small staff. Purpose, to hire more people. Balmer disagreed but went along with Bill. When the company started to fly, he realized the key to success to was to hire the best people no matter the cost.

No MS spares no expense to "acquire" people who can help them.
