Thanks alot to everybody for the help. I've saved all the posts.
So far I have nothing to write home about.
I can only guess that:
1. RH package doesn't install modem. I couldn't find modem in the initial "/dev/" director.
2. After I used "ln -s /dev/cua1 /dev/modem" the word "modem" appeared in "/dev/" directory, but it looks like it supposed to be a directory, not just an empty file.
Minicom gave me a message:
Configuration file not found. Using defaults.
Cannot open /dev/modem: Not a directory.
3. I need to mount the modem. Linuxconf allows me easy to do it, but I don't know what fstype should be used.

I redirected messages ">" from commands "dmesg", "dir /dev" to the floppy and was going to post them here , but WIN cannot read them. I thought that if the discette was formatted under DOS, then Linux would save files in DOS format. Is there a way to save the results in DOS format or convert the to DOS format? It would make troubleshooting much easier.

Still hoping.
