Holy shit! Good find, Ken. I sure hope Cisco can acquire Juniper soon before they become a force to be reckoned with.
What scares me is basically two things. First, these guys have heavy duty equity partners which may eventually become acquirers: AT&T Ventures, the Anschutz Family Investment Company LLC, Ericsson, Lucent Technologies, Nortel (Northern Telecom), The Siemens/Newbridge Alliance, 3Com, and Worldcom/UUNET Technologies. Second, this M40 router of theirs is not only interoperable with Cisco's high end stuff but it is one order of magnitude faster than most high end routers, which means it's capable of routing 40 million packets per second. Incredible.
I know Cisco is probably keeping a tab on these guys, but I also am sure that Lucent would get first dibs on these guys if it came to a buyout.
This is truly scary. Comments are welcome, please. |
