Russia is in a transition phase. Nobody can expect Russia to go from inefficient communism to efficient capitalism overnight.
Currently Russia has a budget surplus before foreign debt service. Everybody is getting paid and GDP bottomed last year.
Just because the U.S. is a great country does not mean that Russia is a bad place to invest. It just comes down to the thought of when is buying U.S. internet/tech issues at 10 times sales (or more) at an economic cycle peak not as good as an investment as buying Russian issues with potentially great growth ahead of them for 1/10 of sales ???
