Hi Malcolm,
Once in a while you have to break some rules, but only with money you can afford to lose. I have a Feline and Canine Fund, using whayt I call "mad money" and search all over for unloved and unwanted stocks, a category I have also called Dead Devil or Fallen Angels???? or DDDD situations which stands for DOUBLE_DUTY DUE DILIGENCE stocks.
Conventional wisdom= conventional profits.
No one likes to lose money, so protect yourself even with these wild ones.
I have made modest investments in a Four-Red Flag situation called Inflazyme Pharmaceuticals which has the following red flags....it is a penny stock listed in Vancouver, an emerging bio-tech that has no product in Phase One....there are probably some more red flags, but these are enough for starters..always look at the downside first....the stock had a 3.00 high a few years ago..down to 28cents recently and a rally to slightly above a dollar.
The company is working on a cure for asthma and other respitory diseases, the substance used is found in a sea sponge...they have other things they are working on which you will find if you care and if you DDDD....a thing that interested me in the beginning was the quality of directors the company attracted from some prestigious drug companies....although some of these men ae retired, why would they risk hard earned reputations on an emerging bio-tech company in Vancouver????Inflazyme certainly didn't have enough money to buy them....In the past six months or so the company got a good business CEO, which is a plus to my thinking. Very few pure scientists have the talent to run a successful compnay....these are some of the thinking processes I go through when searching for a company....some work out BIG TIME and others GO ZERO.....if you are a new investor and can learn from mistakes made, you didn't lose everything...like a lot of kids go to college...they don't remember a lot of stuff they paid to learn..do they consider their education a total loss?
I am writing this to share some experience...not to tout...Even Malcolm doesn't have enough money to push this stock to the number I would consider selling.
Inflazyme has a good thread on Silicon IZP.V = Canaidian...IZYPF= US,,,,,.......Check Yahoo for all news releases........don't forget this is a DDDD situation......nysebob2
