Can anyone explain this. I call my Canadian broker to short a NASDAQ stock. He says there is none available at the loan post but I can short it anyway although the shares could be called away any time. I did not think you could short if the shares are not available. (I didn't question my broker since I was happy to be able to do the trade.)
