Gus, I looked up some patents on Ampex and could not find one that seems to fit your discription. I didn't write down the patent number, thought I could find it with a search. So many friggin Ampex patents I probably missed it. Maybe it had a title that didn't catch my attention. Could you post that patent number? BTW what's with the AOL board? It's dead! Everybody jumping ship? Hope so I have a couple of puts against AOL!
