My only worry with Linux is that the only people that go out and buy it are the ones that would just use Windows because it's easier. Plus, the people that do buy it, won't pay for an upgrade (like win98), since the upgrade is easily done over the net. (If they can work thru linux, they should know how to download/install an upgrade).
I have a tough time seeing how a company can be profitable by selling a product that is available for free from thousands of FTP sites (legally). Kinda like selling bottled air.

I have no doubt that Linux will be big, but remember it's a free piece of software. All it takes is a modem and a quick search to get it. Plus there's quite a few other Linux packages out there, so they aren't the only kid on the block.

It will also take time. Linux will *not* be a threat to Microsoft until they can put together an easy-to-use GUI. The average user doesn't want to concern himself with root access, he just wants his internet and games. Right now, linux just isn't ready...

Just something to think about...
