Or to put it another way, do we really want one company, Microsoft - or anyone - to control for eternity the OS. Is this the best the world will ever get ? New Users are too blinded by the compatibility argument and "me too" isms. However, this is just the first stage to a wired world, not the last.

Your typical Apple user is flexible/multi os oriented and wanting of pc advancement. Most Windows users just got their PC the last few years and only got it because of some parttime sales rep who only knows computers from the fact sheets in the store. It's just a matter of time before Windows users demand more and become more saavy. And the world will change.

I see the industry today as like the car industry post WWI when Ford's Model T decimated most manufacturers with low cost/marketing. Yet there is room for high end models (aka Mercedes/BMW/Lexus).

It hope Apple regains its tecnology "prophecy" place. The steps with NEXT/Laptops/Newton all point in positive directions. I do not think we should worry about a company with minority share, IF it regains its leading edge delivery.

Sincerely,
Ben
