HI Anita: I don't even want to hear about .10 min on any conditions,
NOT EVEN one tenth of ONE penny, NOTHING !
They are making a bundle now as it is..I mean a bundle the Baby Bells
have never had it so good. Compatition, and improved technoligy will
get the line speed up..they don't need a TAX..and it's cheaper for
them to provide service now than ever before..the new equipment cost
less works better, and takes less to maintain.."the old if you pay
more hype " "is out the window"..you get 20 times the computing power
today cheaper that the old 286 sold for new..fiber optics don't
cost more, it's less..and it will out last copper..and carry 1000
time as much band width..they just don't want to spend some of the
windfall profits they made to put in new lines..
The old 28.8 modems had some problems and every one said it was the
phone lines , ( I bought into that )..but the new stuff flies,
problem here is you have to have a good modem on both ends, and
the 56k modems have even better tech built in.
I have also caught some ISPs telling a fib about what kind of modems
they run, and blaming it on phone lines.
Bottom line is the Baby bells DO already make a killing off the
internet..with a comerical rate charged to the incoming line
the ISP has to have for each and every modem he can get data
on..so you are paying twice..when you go on the internet..
it's in your internet bill..yes and there is tax on it already
and it does not need to be any more than it is just because it's
internet. ANY upgrades they make let them make more at the same
rates they have in place..in fact rates should be going down,
Not up, it far cheaper for them to handle calls now..than just
10 years ago, the new swithing stations cost less work better
and have paid off big bucks to them..if you local phone company
has not redused it's primary service bill it's because they are
greedy.
There is no reason, and no nothing but a power struggle
for the baby bells to maintain absolute controal over their little
kingdoms, to impose any more Tax, And filthy politicians looking for any angle to get more money out of us.
NO to rate increses, NO to internet TaXes, get out the axes, any more
increase will spell WAR to me..they better read it good, as
I'm not the only one who feels this strongly, the computer
has given us a freedom we never had..we are not going to give it
back with out a serious fight..and we have an edge in this area
that their jack booted thugs don't understand and can't deal with.
At any given time HACKERS can just about shut this country down,
The little breakins to the FBI and justice dept did no damage
and were just a tip off. The Gov might build roads..but it does
not lay the cable, there sould not even be the taxes we now have
on phone lines. In this day and time a phone line is consider
esentual, it's like taxing the air you breath..o my I want to
use some bad words..please don't even hint that a surcharge on
lines would be OK if such and such, thats rubbage.
Sorry if I sound unwound..but sur charges and Taxes for internet
usasge will just comdem, and force the little guy out of the
picture..NO to it..for any reason..as they are not valid,
it should be reducing the charges that we need tobe talking about
we are over paying now as it is.
