It really all comes down to a very simple issue; this discussion about Clinton and 1978.

The issue is really about the current state of affairs having to do with defamation of character, libel, and slander. There is law to protect a person from these things; that is part of the much talked about and so-called cherished thing called the "rule of law".

The internet has made it possible to engage in defamation of character and libel in a way that is truely shocking. There will be protection coming in the future to deal with this. There may be changes to what can and can't be said about public officials coming.

When it comes to defamation of character; you can't say somebody is THIS or THAT unless you can prove that this thing you are saying is true. If you don't believe we should have these kinds of protection; consider what you might deal with.

Let's say a neighbor decides that he just can't stand you. He then puts up signs in your community that you are a felon, a rapist, or a murderer. Let's say he calls the company you work for or all your clients and tells them you are this thing. Let's say he tells everyone in your church that you are this thing. Where would that leave you; just screwed with everyone to wonder. Believe me; you put something out like that about anyone and half the people will think it is true no matter what. You'll suffer damage to your life with this kind of thing. That is why we have the rule of law. That is why we have protections in the law about what can be said about us and can't. Believe me; you wouldn't want to get rid of that protection.

This all is part of a debate about what privacy a person should have in life. Should we be subjected to having any and every person that doesn't like us post on the internet lies about us or things never proven and just sort of looking suspect?

The Republican Party is for insurance companies and medical HMO's and they want all information about you available to these interests. The Democratic Party is committed to working towards privacy protections in a computer and internet world. You folks may not care about any of this till you get burned and burned bad; and believe me, you will if we don't get some protections.

When you get burned; look to the Dem's to help you in this area. The protection of personal privacy is going to be a very hot issue on the near future and the Dem's are already on the winning side of this issue. It is things like what I've read said about Clinton on this thread that make it clear to many many readers that the real concern and threat is to one's own life and when they see what is being done to Clinton; they see they could be next. This is why statements like BC - The Rapist President are going to be real serious losers for you folks in the political realm. Keep it up; I enjoy watching you sink your political interests. If you fight dirty; nobody will care what you are fighting for; and that is what has already happened. Pro-Life; a lost political issue by you folks; you lost it by your methods. Morality; if you defame people; where's your morality argument; lost in the dirt. You folks have a knack for screwing yourselves. Then you wonder why the country won't listen to you. It seems the country is more moral than you realize and vice versa.
