victor: I always thought it unlikely that Faber spoke to EP in some privileged telephone discussion. I think it more likely that he was reporting what his editor Rosalie Nelson had told him or that he listened in on her interview with EP. Rosalie, who is English, seemed a lot more informed than Faber. Remember Faber is a front man and a mouthpiece for work done behind the scenes by staff and reporters. He does some of the telephoning himself but when was the last time he spoke to a CEO - he speaks to analysts and PR people.

This makes no sense to me. How could Faber be reporting what Rosalie said during her interview with EP if she interviewed EP on Tuesday the 16th and Faber made his "gloating" comment (with no "hesitation")on Friday the 12th??? You think Faber lied about talking to EP??? I doubt he could get away with saying stuff like that if it weren't true! Personally, I think Faber is a pretty good "news hound" and I'm sure he talks to analysts, PR people, company insiders, AND CEOs.
