Ole or anyone,
little help please. I'm trying to compare amount of gold oz(in US $) available for sale to the total market cap. of S&P + nasdaq 100 + internet index.
Find I don't have the ammunition to fire away at the number.
1. When we see the term "tonne" listed in stuff from Europe as inventory of gold , does this mean 24000 troy oz or would this mean some sort of weird "long tonne or metric tonne"?
Guess what I asking "are the only acceptable measures for precious metals today - Troy weights or Metric weights? I have also seen "drams & stones" used lightly.

2. Is this conversion part of the "Mystique" that clouds this issue of world inventory?

3. Is there a list somewhere of the major metals exchanges of the world and a web site for each so one might monitor goings on of them? We were told last year London had improved transparency
and was reporting transaction quantities and prices paid(though not buyers & sellers), but may only hear these numbers reported every once in a while.

TIA

richard
