I thought I would post one more time today-
In hindsight, the most bullish thing that can happen to one of these
small biotech companies is to have a favorable article (or mention) in Barron's. I think part of the run-up recently can be tied to the fact that SEPR was picked by Art Samberg in the Barron's Roundtable.
(Samberg has a great track record.) Samberg said SEPR was a unique company and that it would go on a five year run of earnings growth starting in 2001. Of course, SEPR was also recommended in the Worth mag. cover story (Peter Lynch and friends pick their best stocks for 1999). Finally, I finally got my copy in the mail last week of the Wall St. Week transcript of the Rukeyser panel's stock picks. They must have had a tremendous number of requests. Wouldn't you know it,SEPR was on one of lists. Sooner or later, Barron's is going to run another big story on biotech stocks. The cover story back in 1990 on biotech kicked off a two-year rally in the entire sector. Short sellers beware! The float in SEPR is really small. The fact that the Company decided to pass on the split is no help. (If they had split, the projections would now be for only 7.50 per share in 2003 instead of 15 bucks.)
