Actually, it appears that the call for a split is now a strategic move. Obviously, it has no effect on the fundamentals. But, it does bring in some buyers who read in to it a management's confidence going forward. It seems more and more companies are using the announcement of a stock split to propel a stock at a time AFTER the earnings report (i.e. LU last week). It is yet another opportunity to keep a company's name in the news. So -- FWIW - I fully expect we'll be hearing something quite soon about a split. Just when you least expect it... Hope I don't wait too long before getting my fair share of shares. ;)
