My guess is that mandatory per minute internet charges will play well to a Republican Congress but we can hope for Clinton to oppose. The internet is associated with education, free flow of information, and a leveling of the class structure; all ideas opposed by the right wingers. For example, the timely stock information available on SI was available only to a select few before the internet.

The internet has empowered a lot of people and small businesses, increased the benefit of intelligence and decreased the advantage of being born rich. There are some folks who would like to put the genie back in the bottle. It is not just about money, it is about freedom.

I suggest that letters and email to Clinton and Gore are the best hope of defeating the new fees.
