I wonder if the killings of the Iraqi Shi'ite Muslim cleric is someone's idea of a good way of getting rid of Saddam? I believe that Sunnis, only a small proportion of the population, (Kurds are the other big minority) live in the areas with a majority of the oil, and thus control the government. Can't expect some ambitious Sunni figure to want to have the Shi'ite's all stirred up in order to replace Saddam...would be a MAD (mutual assured destruction) scheme.
