Mark - Re.: "...a press release tooting their horn..."
The news release is significant: (1) claims of improved safety and reduced manufacturing costs (2) commercial potential (3) intent to prosecute infringement. I assume that VLNC intends to file actions against infringement and is ready to go to the court.
Almost all patent infringement cases are by jury trial. A small company called FONAR won several million dollars against GE, (out of court (?) settlements with Toshiba, Hitachi, etc.) on their NMR patent violations. GE fought as hard as they could but lost. The settlements amounted to almost $4/share, as I recall. Testing patent claims in a court can be a good thing to VLNC if they have valid claims (or "specs"). Ram
