Attention, Are there any Cable and Wireless employees monitoring this thread? I just sent the following message to your company, and would like to make sure it gets through the customer service filters:

Please forward the following to Dennis (Denny) D. Matteucci, Chief Executive Officer of Cable & Wireless USA:
Dear Mr. Matteucci, As an investor, I have been fascinated by the huge opportunity that your company has in integrating your isp and voice services to provide a total solution to Cable & Wireless customers. You made a large investment buying MCI's isp operations, and it seems to be working, but based on my personal experience, your gamble is failing. I have been well served by CWIX as an isp, and recently signed up for your long distance service as a result. My long distance phone bill runs about $1500/yr. But your isp service, at $14.95/month is no longer a viable option for me.
I am an online investor, and may possibly exceed the 150 hr./mo., though I haven't yet. I called your isp group to see if I could sign up for an unlimited access plan, but you do not have one available yet. Even worse, you offer no way for me to track my hours of internet usage, so it is possible I could receive a bill for 100 hours of excess time at $.95/hr. without warning.
The going rate for unlimited access is $19.95 from fine isp competitors like Earthlink or Mindspring, and since I use Web based email, I can change to one of these services with ease. If I am forced to do so, due to the lack of a competitive program from CWIX, I will probably take my long distance account with me. I'm sure this isn't the paradigm you looked for when you spent countless of millions in buying mci2000, but due to the inflexibility of your isp management team and your slowness in meeting the standards of the industry, you will surely lose my business and those of internet users of similar needs.
My comments met with no reaction from your isp team, and I must make a defensive move quickly. I felt it was only fair that I alert you to this flaw in your integrated data/voice strategy. |
