John I just came in,whats the hubbub? Well here's my 2 cents on taxing the internet by time used. The government doesn't understadn this phenomena,this internet thing,but they see this huge revenue stream going by their door and they aren't getting any. Well the RBOC's come crying,saying they havent got enough bandwidth to provide the service as it is now,please let us tax the internet. Now the problem is the RBOC's are a psuedo-monopoly that has never had competition and has never upgraded their infrastructure since Edison's days. Well the government and the RBOC's say wow we can really clean up together. True we could tax something, I just read an article on taxing E-mail,especially junk e-mail or large e-mail. But the problem is the government doesn't like to tax industry but loves to tax the middle class. Tim
