I agree, and GSCO doesn't have retail brokers to protect, so buying EGRP is not a conflict. And since Goldman is private, they don't have to worry about diluting their reported earnings.

However, they'd have to pay cash, which argues against a deal, as that would be a lot of cash, even for GSCO.

How about a reverse merger, where Goldman goes public by having EGRP buy them with EGRP stock? Hmmm, that idea is so far out it might work.....
