Walter,

I too recall a higher compression ratio than 11:1 for CD quality sound. What is missing from the article was the bit rate and sampling rate for this CR of 11:1. Should you be able to get an explanation about the variables from Lucent, please post same. I believe a 64 bit rate would give a 22:1 compression. It has been my impression that Lucent can alter the variables, increase the compression, and thus preserve the sound quality.
