"IBM's backing for Linux comes as Microsoft is struggling to meet its latest deadline for shipping Windows 2000, which is about two years past its original deadline. Some corporate customers who've tested an early version say it's too unstable in its current form to use to upgrade their computer networks.

"Microsoft software engineers are working around the clock to debug and fortify a test version of Windows 2000 that will go out in April. The company's goal is to ship the system in the second half of 1999."

tony, or anyone else with answer,

why is Windows 2000 about two years past its original deadline?

if engineers are already working 24 hours, does this indicate that the company is behind the revised deadline?

even if it's late with 2000, will the company recover?

regards
