Interesting article. Also interesting that with all of the discussion of excess capacity, there was so little talk of the huge pent-up demand that is represented by the tens of millions of people who want things, but can't afford to buy them. Odd to speak of "agricultural overcapacity" when millions are starving around the world.

The obvious solution to the excess capacity problem is a concerted effort to bring the millions of working poor into the consumption loop. How this can be done, of course, is another question altogether. Seems odd to me that so few of the experts are trying to answer it.
