Pravin,

OT,

Am glad you are enjoying yourself.

Have fun in Sardinia if you go.

We are developing some new ASIC products ( a hybrid between gate array and full standard cells) for the system on chip markets.

Our bet is that true standard cell solutions with VDSM are too expensive and take too long to develop and too risky with third party IP. So we have developed a metal-programmable way of hooking up a bunch of standard cells via metal. Sort of a glorified gate array (but we can put RAM/ROM and some mixed signal blocks on chip). Our die sizes are maybe 1.5 to 2x true std cell but for lots of folks time to market is key and the die cost disadvanatage is swamped by mask costs and packaging/test. Anyway initial customer responses have been quite positive.

Sounds like 99 will be a fun year for all of us.

Best regards,

Kash J.
