Teradyne Announces Availability of Rambus Production Package for Direct Rambus Memory and Logic Test on J973 VLSI Test System SEOUL, Korea, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- At the Semicon Korea Conference today, Teradyne (NYSE: TER - news) announced the availability of an integrated software and hardware package designed to support production testing of Direct Rambus(TM) memory and logic devices on the J973 VLSI Test System. The Rambus(TM) Production Package (RPP) is a complete testing solution designed to help manufacturers quickly ramp up to production-volume testing of both Direct Rambus DRAM and Direct Rambus logic devices using the J973. The Production Package, used in conjunction with J973 Memory Test Option (MTO), includes an upgraded VS/DC source, a 16-in-parallel interface board, new system software which incorporates packet based algorithmic pattern programming and logic vector converter functions, and a new Direct Rambus test program. The RPP is available as a field upgrade to an existing J973 system with MTO, or as a factory installed option.
The key to the J973's unique ability to test both memory and logic devices is its advanced FlexSystem(TM) Architecture. FlexSystem combines the power of the J973 Pattern Integrator Architecture with the flexibility of the algorithmic pattern generator used in the ARIES High-Speed Memory Test System. ''The idea of a single tester capable of testing both logic and memory is not new,'' according to Rod Stewart, J973 Product Manager at Teradyne. ''The difference is that a J973 with the Memory Test Option and the new Rambus Production Package can test Direct Rambus logic or memory as cost effectively as any single function system. In many cases, a J973 will fundamentally improve test economics and increase capital utilization by replacing the single function machines that are often found sitting idle on a mixed product test floor.''
''The J973 with MTO and RPP is a perfect fit for test services companies and semiconductor subcontractors,'' commented Peter Yu, Fabless Sub-Contractor Product Manager. ''The J973 will provide a competitive edge to companies which must contend with testing a varying mix of memory and logic devices. In the amount of time it takes to switch interface boards, a properly equipped J973 with can be re-configured to test almost any device currently made, including Rambus Direct devices.''
