Advertising AOL Pitches CompuServe Unit As Upscale Niche in Cyberspace By THOMAS E. WEBER Staff Reporter of THE WALL STREET JOURNAL The grand old man of cyberspace is getting a facelift. CompuServe Monday will unveil a major makeover of its online offerings, aiming to pitch itself to advertisers as an elite and upscale corner of the Internet rather than a stagnant unit of giant America Online, which bought the company early last year. Visitors will be greeted by sleeker, jazzier screens. E-mail will be simpler to use. CompuServe's extensive business and financial news will be reorganized to make it easier to find.
