To be honest, I don't know the answer. However, it is placed in the tooth pockets and it solidifies and therefore probably doesn't affect the taste buds. Regardless, I had rather suffer from a food taste loss for a week rather than have the surgery that has been the normal procedure in the past. Action in ATRX today and over the past few days has left a good taste in my mouth.(:>)
