>>I got the information directly from an Iomega engineer.<<

Is it possible that this engineer was either 1) in error, 2) there was a miscommunication, or 3) simply telling you something you wanted to hear?

I just researched numerous Zip sites that feature disassembled Zip drives, and NONE of them seem to mention or contain any evidence (photo or otherwise) of this "spacer pad" feature. The only pad mentioned or visible is the cleaning/spacer pad on which the heads rest when parked. If such "spacer pads" existed, they would surely mention them on these pages (some go into GREAT detail in the construction of Zip drives and label each part by part)

If you can point me to a web photo somewhere in which these pads are visible, or even mentioned offhand by the author, it would be appreciated. I would hate to think that Iomega Investors had taken the ball and run with it, all the while being in error.

Thanks.
