John, what I meant is much of the "organic" designation is based on voodoo science. I do agree on the pesticide issue, I don't want these in my food! That's why I'm in favor of insect-protected GM varieties. Beyond that, many of the claims made by health food companies are snake oil; in fact the government has been clamping down on that industry for false claims.

What we need is the same or better agricultural productivity, and little or no pesticides. The only answer to this is bioag. Organic farming has *lower* productivity. Oddly, that industry rejects gene crops, yet they embrace genes modified through years of hybridization...? And they embrace BT, only if sprayed whole on plants...but a piece of BT is unacceptable?

...that is what I mean by Voodoo science "which people only imagine in their minds"; the organic industry only wants to maintain an impression of being better...it doesn't matter if science proves or disproves claims as long as they can stick the "organic" label on.
