A couple major trends coalescing rapidly - potentially to Ampex's ( and TVontheWeb's) distinct advantage..... Heard a local radio ad (DC area) this morning advertising a DSL Bell Atlantic hookup at up to 7056kbps....which already brings that speed factor improvement needed for full motion fullscreen video down from 172 to around 1.5 ( nominally only, I know - all those weakest links out there). Its coming. And read a report that over 13,000 digital televisions - most of high definition variety - were sold last year. And that was without HDTV content even broadly available as of yet( end of 99 for that). In addition...and more importantly....Hitachi has lowered the price point for an HDTV to $3,000. Still high of course, but much lower than before. When one major player makes such an announcement, others soon to follow.
