The procedure you were referring to is a "Batista" procedure. Batista is a surgeon operating at a small clinic in Brazil who developed a procedure for thse patients who need transplants but because of there locale can't get them. In short, it is not widely accepted that it works but alot of US surgeons have interest in the procedure. Batista comes to the US every now and then to lecture and teach this procedure. Nothing really to worry about when compared to TCA.
