You are admitting that you consider helping homeless animals to be more important than helping homeless people. Me, I tend to set my priorities the other way--our used clothing all goes to the Salvation Army or to Kiwanis, to help PEOPLE in need. (And I have never taken a tax deduction for them -- I worry about helping people less than about saving taxes. Wnlike WJC.)

My animal friends are equally important to me as my people friends. But the scales lean towards the animals because they get less financial support from charities around here so I donate to them. Also, as far as I know Goodwill doesn't have a consignment shop... so if I give some expensive item to Goodwill, they don't have the outlet to sell it for what it is worth (generating less $$ for the charity). So I reject your implications that I am somehow less charitable than yourself because I choose different charities.

Regarding tax deductions, are you saying that people that don't claim the legal deductions are somehow better givers than those that do? Rofl! More conservative claptrap. BTW I'd like to find out who was behind the "charitable trust" idea in Congress (bet it was a conservative pandering to their wealthy base).... now there is a scam if I ever heard one. If you don't know about them, look it up.... set up a tax free trust that only has to give 2% of the assets to charity! Ha Ha.
