Visio Announces Configurable eVisio Products

Customers Will Be Able to Create Made-to-Order Visio Solutions and Purchase Them Over the Internet
SEATTLE, Feb. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- Visio Corp. (Nasdaq: VSIO) today announced the eVisio(TM) product line, made-to-order products and online services configurable via the Internet. These eVisio products will offer customers the opportunity to select combinations of Visio(R) technology-based components to create the Visio product that best meets their individual drawing needs. Customers will be able to choose from a wide selection of industry- and task-specific Visio solutions to create their own custom eVisio products. eVisio products will be available for purchase at the eVisio Web site by the end of the March quarter.

Made-to-Order Visio
From the product's inception in 1992, the Visio component-based architecture has been well-suited to support the type of "mass customization" potential that the eVisio technology delivers. Concurrently, Visio's customer base of nearly 2.8 million is as varied as the thousands of SmartShapes(R) symbols included in Visio products today. eVisio products will be delivered incrementally throughout 1999, based on continuous customer feedback and interaction.
The eVisio Web site will go live with a wide assortment of configurable solutions, all based on the established Visio 5.0 engine. Customers will be able to purchase eVisio products as ready-made solutions, configure their own version based on predefined functionality sets, or create a completely custom eVisio solution from scratch. For example, eVisio technology will offer software developers a variety of Visio solutions for designing and documenting their software applications, with many customizable options from which to choose. Software developers are only one of virtually thousands of audiences for eVisio solutions -- others include sales and marketing professionals and facilities managers, as well as users in various industries including government, insurance and telecommunications.
