Entrust enters pacts with Compaq Computer, Lucent
Reuters Story - February 22, 1999 13:21
RICHARDSON, Texas, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Computer security software supplier Entrust Technologies Inc. on Monday said it was working with Compaq Computer Corp. to offer training and services to operate Entrust's security software.

Entrust also said Lucent Technologies Inc. would license Entrust software programming tools to allow Lucent to offer managed firewall and virtual private-network products for use in both Internet service provider and corporate networks.

The products and services that Entrust and Compaq will offer will make it easier for organizations to handle secure electronic communications and transactions with partners, employees and clients using technology known as public key infrastructure (PKI).

Terms of the agreement call for Compaq's Services unit to add the Entrust family of PKI security solutions to the group of products for which it provides electronic commerce services support, Entrust said.

As part of its next-generation networks initiative announced last week, Compaq will also offer systems integration and consulting services for Entrust's security solutions and resell them to its large network of services customers.

By mid-afternoon Monday, Entrust stock had gained 87.5 cents to $24.875 in Nasdaq trading.
