Riddell Sports enters venture to go online
NEW YORK, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Athletic apparel giant Riddell Sports Inc (AMEX:RDL - news) said Monday it signed a non-binding letter of intent to form RiddellSports.com, a joint venture to market its Riddell, Varsity and Umbro brands.
Riddell would partner with Data Broadcasting Corp (Nasdaq:DBCC - news), which along with CBS Corp (NYSE:CBS - news), owns approximately 75 percent of MarketWatch.com Inc (Nasdaq:MKTW - news), an Internet provider of financial services. The other partner in the Riddell venture is Dawntreader Fund I LLP, a venture capital fund formed by Robert Lessin, formerly a vice-chairman at Solomon, Smith Barney..."
