You are correct that the stock may pull back, after all the company will not be shipping this technology until 1998. However, this company outside of this announcement was undervalued after their acquisition of Etch technologies.
In addition to a respected management team, they are well positioned to take advantage of the coming technology growth. This may be an upside overreaction, but it should draw some fund money and help support the stock.
