Hi Mohan, I don't know if the H&Q recommendations were posted on the thread, so here's the story:

RESEARCH ALERT-Hambrecht starts PC Hardware group

NEW YORK, Feb 22 (Reuters) - Hambrecht & Quist on Monday said analyst Walter Winnitzki has initiated coverage of five of the world's biggest computer makers, saying that sentiment for the major PC suppliers has turned "more favorable."

He started Compaq Computer Corp. <CPQ.N> and Gateway Inc. <GTW.N> at buy ratings and ranked Apple Computer Inc. <AAPL.O>, Dell Computer Corp. <DELL.O>, Micron Electronics Inc. <MUEI.O> at hold.

in a research note, Winnitzki, who recently joined Hambrecht, rated Gateway as his "favorite at this time."

said recent stock price gains in the sector were fueled by the belief that the industry may see less of the normal negative seasonality in the first quarter and, possibly, in the first few quarters of the year.

warned of the potential disruption that the Year 2000 issue may have in corporate spending in the latter half of 1999. "It could have a restrictive impact, relative to investment sentiment, on the shares of major PC vendors," he said.

saw PC unit growth slowing to about 14 percent in 1999 and 2000.
