My understanding is that companies are pulling out of the Caspian as the finds there aren't economic below $12. Now I could be mixing two different areas up.

Running a model portfolio over time is a great way to get familiar with the industry. As you've discovered, SLB holds up better. Some would say this is due to their large market cap and mutual fund holdings. Others, that SLB is better diversified and acknowledged leader.

I don't hold any, though I have entry positions in a number of minors. I would guess that SLB will lead the move up.
